Presentation on Ranked Choice Voting

May 30 @ 6:15 pm - 7:30 pm

The Chamberlain Project Foundation is teaming up with the Peaks Island Council to bring you an educational presentation on Ranked Choice Voting. Please join us at the Fay Garman House on 5/30/18 at 6:15 PM. This is a non-partisan, educational event and is intended to inform voters and answer your questions rather than advocate for or against Ranked Choice Voting. We will discuss the process of counting votes, the history of RCV, the impact of the People’s Veto, and the pros and cons of this new voting system. You will have the opportunity to rank your choices for federal and state elections starting with the June 12, 2018 primary election. This is a historic election with Maine being the first state in the nation to use Ranked Choice Voting for statewide elections. You will also have an opportunity to vote on the People’s Veto in June to determine the fate of Ranked Choice Voting in Maine. We know there is a lot of confusion regarding this reform so please join us so we can answer all of your questions. We will have educational materials available including sample ballots for the upcoming elections. We look forward to seeing you there!
