Peaks Island Players at TEIA present “Mr. Flannery’s Ocean” a short play by Lewis John Carlino, directed by Liz Rollins A retired seaman, belligerent, cantankerous and very human, has laid claim to the ocean, an ownership which grew simply out of a need to belong to and protect something. On the terrace of an old weather-beaten hotel on the coast he sits in his deck chair, ever watchful, ever ready to defend his ocean. He spends his days in perpetual combat with Maug, the maid who can never seem to bring his tea hot enough. Joining Mr. Flannery on the terrace comes Mrs. Pringle, widowed and a woman with a wistful sadness in her eyes. It is the magical tale of humanity, compassion, and the giving and the receiving of a gift which no one believed could be possessed. $15 at the door.
