Peaks Island Concerts
Ellen Mahoney and Ed Daranyi, have lived year-round and raised four children on Peaks Island since 1998. In gratitude for the positive impact of live musical performance in their life, and in celebration of their community, Ed and Ellen have hosted live traditional music and social community dance events in a variety of historical venues on Peaks Island since 2013.
Peaks Island House Concerts is their endeavor. Ed and Ellen believe in the power of music to foster and create positive impact within one’s life and within every community. The 2020 pandemic had a blunt impact on the lives of artists and performers. The Tiny Porch Series was founded as a way to honor musicians and to highlight the powerful force of live musical performance, especially during a very difficult time.
The Peaks House Concert Series welcomed people to share an outdoor live performance from the Tiny Porch Stage at their home on Wharf Cove, Peaks Island. Community members and friends were welcome to bring a picnic, a blanket and perhaps a chair to enjoy an evening of live acoustic performance on the back shore of Peaks Island.
In the fall of 2021, a new collaboration was formed. Together with New Brackett Church and the PI Radio Station, they proudly announce the Long Winter’s Night Concert Series. This new endeavor brought one live concert a month to Peaks Island from December through June, hosted by the New Brackett Church. Shows will highlight regional and Maine based world-class performing and teaching roots musicians.
In the summer of 2023, the 5th Maine joined the fun by offering to become the summer host concert series. What a lovely addition to their calendar and provides an opportunity to enjoy the music indoors year round in our historic island venue spaces.
